*Models *by Mark Manson is a book about attracting women. While every topic around the dating experience is covered, the main message of the book is simple: be vulnerable. What most men do is they put up an act, they try to act too masculine, they don’t talk about their feelings, they focus on pickup tactics – they are “fake alphas.” These same men have anxiety about approaching women, and they are inauthentic to themselves, which makes them unattractive. They work in a job they hate, and aim to make everyone around them happy, but never themselves.
What is considered attractive by all women is someone who is more invested in himself than in the opinions of other people. But that is not enough, you need to dress stylishly, go to the gym, and groom yourself well. You need to know what kind of person you are, and find out where women who are like minded hang out. Cultivate good habits. To be attractive to women, it’s a lot more about what you are, rather than what you say. Someone who is well put together displays high status (which is what women seek out) and if you have the right attitude in that you are not needy or inauthentic, then you will be far more attractive than most.
Part 1: Reality
What do women want? No one knows for sure, not even Sigmund Freud, who spent decades trying to figure it out. Manson points out that for men, the ideal woman just needs to tick a few boxes, like hip-to-waist ratio, clear skin, and shiny hair. But the ideal man for a woman?
Part 2: Strategy
Rejection is painful, but it’s good. It keeps people who are not good for each other apart. Guys don’t understand that if a woman rejects him for his hair or personality, then he wouldn’t have wanted a relationship with her anyway.
Part 3: Honest Living
Demographics are important. John the 35-year-old Computer Engineer, who doesn’t work out and writes poetry in his spare time, shouldn’t go to loud parties to attract a girl like Jenna, who is in college.
Part 4: Honest Communication
Everyone has an excuse for what they fail to do. What stories do you tell yourself?
Part 5: Honest Action
When communicating to women, the important thing is intention. Negging is okay, if the intention is light-hearted. Complimenting is okay if it’s genuine.
