He contends that computers are not inherently dangerous because they don’t possess malice or free will. For a machine to become a threat, it would need to act as an independent agent, capable of making choices against its programming. Baumeister suggests that human thinking serves life-sustaining goals, while computers lack this motivational system. Therefore, they don’t possess an “I” or subjectivity, making them fundamentally different from humans.
